Year 1 - Starfish
Starfish class put on their capes and became superheroes.
We learnt about about real-life heroes from the past and explored our senses of smell, touch, taste, hearing and sight. We investigated different foods and found out which ones were super! We created many superhero works of art which we shared at the end of our project in a super art exhibition.
Our topic is called 'Enchanted Woodland' and we have already been exploring the trees and animals around us. We have made Tree Bogart's out of clay and built miniature dens. We are exploring the tale of Hansel and Gretel in English which will inspire us to write creatively.
We are looking forward to the year ahead, the topics we will be covering are;
Bright Lights, Big City
Paws, Claws and Whiskers.
"I have the best friends" - Safiyah
"Our teachers are really nice" - Beau
Year 1 visited the Greenwich Royal Observatory to finish our topic about space.
We had a day that was 'Out of this world'!
River Reptiles and Rodents visit
To end our topic we invited our parents and carers in to have a tour around London!
‘Paws, Claws and Whiskers’
We’re going to discover that animals come in all shapes and sizes! We will ask and answer questions, share information about the pets we have at home and write animal information booklets. We’ll study animal artwork and make collages, sculptures and prints. We’ll spot similarities and differences between animals, look at different habitats around the world and investigate camouflage.
