Year 2- Squirrels
This classroom is a risk taking, mistake making, challenge embracing, independence building, hardworking kind of place!’
Fun is encouraged as we learn together – Everyone matters!
Welcome to Squirrels, the home of Mrs Gilmartin, Mrs Barton, Miss Fuller and all our superb squirrels. The transition from Year 1 to Year 2 is an exciting time as the children will become more independent learners and will experience lots of new fantastic topics. To support your child, you can practise and learn; counting in 2s, 3s, 5s and 10s, spellings and make sure that reading is being completed at home regularly. We will of course be working very hard in class too, as well as having lots of fun!
The topics which will be covered throughout the year will include: The scented garden, muck, mess and mixtures, towers, tunnels and turrets, land ahoy, wriggle and crawl and street detectives.
Mrs Gilmartin teaches on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. She is so excited to have moved up into Year 2 with this fabulous class and can’t wait to see how they all continue to blossom.
Mrs Barton teaches on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. She loves teaching squirrel class and is impressed with how the children have taken on the new challenges of year 2 with enthusiasm and confidence. She knows they are going to be super successful squirrels!
Here are what some of the children in Squirrels said about our class:
