OUTDOOR LEARNING DAY
Frogs and Turtles embraced outdoor learning day by taking an enjoyable walk to Leysdown Beach. We learnt how the wind turbines generate energy then explored the natural resources on the beach, making clay and shell sculptures and large-scale sand art. It was such a treat to work together as a whole year group and we loved being outside
We also spent a few lessons outdoors this term so far exploring our natural environment and the resources we can find. Ones of our challenges were to create a helmet that they would wear if we were to go to space. We used resources ranging from stick to flowers and spare plant pots. A lot of us had the great idea of using mud to glue all of our pieces together. When we were asked if we enjoyed being outdoors we replied with a very loud and enthusiastic “YES!”.
Year 5 Outdoors
We had lots of fun during science week. Children took part in a 'Sublime Science' workshop where they got to make sweets and slime. Each class took part in an investigation and researched a famous scientist. This was then all displayed at our science fair. Children brought in some amazing projects, we had exploding volcanoes, walking water, refraction with a bottle and lava lamps to name just a few. The enthusiasm of the children was fantastic and the fair enjoyed by all that attended.
