History Curriculum Intent
At Eastchurch Primary school, the intent for the History curriculum is to foster a deep understanding of the past, promoting curiosity, critical thinking, and a strong sense of identity, heritage and local interest among our pupils. Our curriculum is designed to inspire a love for history, enabling pupils to develop and understand a chronological framework of key events, people, and civilizations, both globally and within the United Kingdom.
The intent is to provide a well-sequenced, knowledge-rich curriculum that is ambitious and coherent, ensuring that pupils build a solid foundation of historical knowledge and skills that progressively develop as they move through the school. This curriculum is designed to encourage pupils to ask perceptive and enquiring questions, enabling them to look deeper into the subject and to further add to their learning. Students will learn to analyse evidence critically, and develop an understanding of varied historical concepts and themes.
