EYFS
EYFS
At Eastchurch Church of England Primary School, we believe that early childhood is the foundation on which children build the rest of their lives. We want your child to be curious about the world around them, to make connections, to form positive relationships and to flourish as an individual. We encourage our children to live out our Christian values of Respect, Love, Courage, Honesty, Forgiveness and Kindness so that they may reach their full potential and be able to contribute and thrive in our modern and increasingly complex world. The skills, experiences and learning that your child will enjoy with us will last them a lifetime.
At our school the EYFS takes place in the Nursery (age 3 years on entry) and in the Reception year (age 4 to 5 on entry).
In Nursery, we welcome new entrants in September, January and April. Generally, the children start in the term after their third birthday, however, children can begin at any time across the year. In Reception, all children are encouraged to attend school from the start of the academic year to ensure they receive the best start to their learning journey.
Our Early Years practitioners provide ample opportunities that build upon children’s experiences and interests to enable all children to reach their full potential in every aspect of their development. Children learn through playing and exploring, so that they develop resilience, independence and passion as learners. Our experienced team of adults support the development and learning for your child, making links between adult-led and child-initiated activities. Outdoor and indoor learning environments provide fluid opportunities for learning and important areas of development. Reading sits at the heart of our curriculum; we wish to develop a lifelong love of reading that will enable their future successes.
Our Aims
- For children to access a broad and balanced curriculum that gives them the range of knowledge and skills needed for good progress throughout school and life.
- To provide a structured, secure, and caring environment which meets the individual developmental needs of our young learners.
- To enable them to become confident, motivated, and happy learners, developing the skills and attitudes necessary for their own successful future learning.
- To ensure quality and consistency in teaching and learning so that every child makes good progress, and no child gets left behind.
- To develop a close working partnership between staff and parents and/or carers.
- For every child to be included and supported through equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice.
- To prepare children and parents for the transition to Reception, and then to Year One.
