SPAG

Revision Quiz – Modal verbs.  Modal verbs are words that indicate likelihood. They are used to change or affect other verbs in a sentence.

Reading

Read Chapter 7 of Journey to the river sea. You will find comprehension questions to answer at the start of the English video PowerPoint.

English

Please make sure you have read Chapter 7 before starting this lesson. Today you will be considering how you think Maia feels about life with the Carter family and what evidence there is in the text. Watch this video. You will be drawing a picture to depict life with the Carters, and you will be comparing this to a drawing of other houses found in the compound. Don’t forget to annotate your drawings.

Maths

Today, you are going to be learning how to form expressions. Click here https://vimeo.com/499980673 to access the White Rose video. A PowerPoint version has also been attached below. Complete the fluency, reasoning and problem solving – see resources below.

Topic

An interesting lesson today especially for any animal lovers! Can you find out the difference between natural selection and artificial selection (selective breeding) – see the resources below. You could also watch the BBC video to help you understand: What is selective breeding? - BBC Teach.

Look at images of mixed breed dogs to see which features they have inherited from their parent breeds (see resources below). Investigate Puggles, Schnoodles, Chuskys, Labradoodles, Cockerpoos and Dorgis. Consider whether creating artificial evolution is the right thing to do and express your opinions.

As an extension activity, can you imagine a new species of dog? What features would you mix and what would it create?
