Home learning – Thursday 4th March

SPAG

Today we will be continuing to look at conjunctions. Look through your reading book or any book you have at home and explore the use of conjunctions. Have a go at one of the activities in the grammar document attached below.

Reading

Read chapter 4 of Pit boys. Answer the multiple choice and open-ended questions.

English

Today you will need to choose how you would like to present your research to your audience. Will you tell people about workhouses using a PowerPoint presentation, television show, podcast or information book? Watch the video PowerPoint where you will be guided through the lesson.

Maths

For the next two sessions you will be looking at calculating ratios, using a variety of images. Today click the video link here to learn more: https://vimeo.com/516638393 and explore the activities it shows. There are no set tasks to accompany today’s work. There are, however, 3 activities in the video and the PowerPoint version, which has been attached below, use your own sketches, bar models and notes to complete them. As an extension a Times Tables challenge sheet has been attached below.

Topic

Follow the PowerPoint and find out who Emmeline Pankhurst was. Then find out Victorian women’s roles and learn how they washed their clothes (it is a lot different to how we wash ours!).

Activity: Write a how-to guide for Ada (the new kitchen maid) on how to wash clothes, using the equipment. Make sure to include pictures!
