Home learning – Wednesday 6th January 2021

SPAG - Practise testing – ask a partner or use online spelling games e.g. Spelling shed or Spelling city websites to practise spelling games using the words from this week’s list. Use the list to mark your practise, if completing on paper with a partner. Choose a strategy to practise those spelt incorrectly. There is a noughts and crosses game idea in the resources below you could try. The spelling words can be found on yesterday’s home learning tab.

Reading - Read Chapter 3 of The Haunting of Rose cottage and the answer the multiple choice questions. Have a go at the ‘Challenge questions’ – see resources below.

English - Artistic Challenge - Doors are not only exciting for what may lie behind them, they can be designed to invite you into their world. A few years ago, a derelict area of Funchal in Madeira was transformed by local artists who decided to bring the dead doors to life. The beauty of the art opened new doors, and soon homes, shops and restaurants flourished there. See some of those doors at the bottom of this page...

★ Have a go at drawing, painting or creating your own door. What design would you choose? What would it represent? Use your creativity to figure out the door shape, style, theme… there are so many ways you can express yourself here. Don’t forget to share your work.

Maths - Today, you are going to be multiplying by 10, 100 and 1000. Click here  to access the White Rose video. A PDF version has also been attached below. Complete the fluency, reasoning and problem solving – see resources below.

PE - Revisit one of the ‘PE with Joe Wicks’ lessons at P.E with Joe | Monday 23rd March 2020 - YouTube. Joe will be making new videos from Monday 11th January that we will be able to try next week. If you can, get into the garden and practise some dribbling of a football. Try shooting into a basketball net if you have one.

PSHE - Personal learning goals – Think about your strengths, what are you good at? (English, Maths, making friends, playing football) Make a list. Are there any things you need to improve? Can you think of 2 goals for yourself? One needs to be related to school and the other can be an aspiration for outside of school. Present these goals in an interesting way. This could be on a football, shield or trophy. Cut them out and stick them somewhere near your home learning space.
