Session 1 - Phonics

We are going to continue learning Phase 3 sounds which are all digraphs, two letters making one sound or a trigraph, three letters making one sound. Click the link for Letters and Sounds video for learning the new digraph long ‘oo’

Session 2 – English

Watch Mrs Holmes’ video recapping the Everyday Heroes we discussed yesterday. Let’s think about other Everyday Heroes. Who else is a hero at the moment? Your grownups for becoming your teachers and helping you learn. The TAs in school that are teaching the children that still have to go to school as their mums and dads are keyworkers who still have to go to work. The people in the school office, the dinner ladies, the cleaners, Mr Scott and Mr Roberts who open the school every day.

Then all the key workers that are still working. People that work in shops and supermarkets so we can still buy food, the lorry drivers that are delivering the food to these shops, the people who pack all the foods into the boxes and tins and packaging. The bakers and cake makers, the farmers that grow all the fruits and vegetables and then the shopkeepers that sell the bread, cakes, fruits and vegetables. Now let’s add to our list of key workers.

Session 3 -  Maths

Today we are looking at the number 8. Here is 8 in the tens frames. There are 2 empty spaces. How can we place the spots on the ladybird? We could have 2 spots on one side and 6 spots on thje other. Let’s put the spots back in the tens frame. We could then have 5 spots on one side and 3 on the other. Explore all the different ways of making 8.  Draw a ladybird or use 2 plates or mats and 8 objects such as pasta shapes or buttons to help you.

Session 4-Topic - Creative

Over this week produce some art based around night time. Think about all the things you have found out about; animals that come out at night, people who help us at night, the stars and how dark it is at night. You can use anything you like; pens, pencils, paint, used boxes or tubes. You could draw a picture or make a night time scene in a shoe box. We look forward to seeing pictures of your creations on Tapestry.
