Year 4  Daily Activities            Week 2     Wednesday 13th January

Today’s Activities

Today begins with English activities, followed by Maths, P.E. and P.H.S.E. .

GPS

For GPS today, we are going to be focusing on just one of the prefixes we have looked at this week. Please read through Wednesday Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling PDF and then complete the activity, Wednesday GPS Task PDF. You will need to refer to Wednesday GPS Task Words PDF to complete the task. Again, there will be Dojo points for those of you who complete the extra challenge!

                                                                                                                                                   Reading Activity

Today you will re-read the opening pages for ‘Arthur and the Golden Rope’ and answer questions about it. Please remember to answer using full sentences please! See Wednesday Reading Activity below.

Writing Activity

Watch this video link of how Michael Rosen tells a story about eating chocolate cake when he was younger. He has a very entertaining way of telling a story and uses actions and sounds to make it more interesting. Now re-tell the story of ‘Sif and her Golden Hair’ to an adult or family member, using the story map that you created yesterday. Remember how Michael Rosen made his story entertaining by using actions and sounds and see if you can do the same!

Maths

Today’s lesson is all about exploring efficient and written methods of multiplication.  Watch these 2 video links   https://vimeo.com/492101020   and  https://vimeo.com/491687378 which explain how to do this easily and then have a go at the Maths Activity Sheet below.

Complete as many questions as you can, but please don’t worry if there are ones you are not sure of.  Your adult can check your answers using the Maths Activity Answer Sheet below.

Don’t forget your daily 5-10 minutes of times tables practice, using either Purple Mash (Monster Multiplication 2Do), Times Tables Rockstar or Top Marks Hit the Button    Hit the Button - Quick fire maths practice for 5-11 year olds (topmarks.co.uk)

Have a great home learning  Wednesday.
