Thursday 4th February 2021

Here are your activities for today – Thursday 4th February 2021.

Phonics:  Logon to Phonics hero https://phonicshero.com/ and complete the next activity.

Today we will continue to look at singular and plural nouns.  So far we have learnt that most singular nouns form the plural by adding S (for example boat - boats).  However, this not always the case as we found out yesterday with words ending in ch/sh/tch.

Have a look what happened to words ending in ss/x  when they are changed to plural.

one fox                        two foxes

one miss                       two misses.

What did you notice? We add in es to words ending in ss/x. Practise changing the following words to plural – cross, box, boss

GPS: Common exception words – most, both, only. Read and write these words – most, both, only. Add sound buttons. What sound does the ‘o’ make? Quickwrite each word for 2  minutes. Our spelling words this week are – clothes, parents, know, dishes, church

Guided Reading: Log on to Purple Mash and read Chapter four of ‘I wish I was a fish.’ Complete the missing words activity set as a 2do.

English: Today we are building our vocabulary and responding to an illustration.   Please see the attached video for your work.   Here is a link to hear the author read ‘The sound collector’

Maths: Today we will draw pictograms.  Watch this video which will take you though some examples and then complete the worksheet.
