Home Learning Monday 4th January 2021

Session 1 – Phonics - Can you remember all the phase 2 phonemes?

Use the phase 2 phoneme cards we sent home in term 2 or write these sounds onto small squares of paper: s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, ck, e, u, r, h, b, l, ll, f, ff, ss. Watch the video on Tapestry and join in with all the phonemes.  Can you segment and blend some cvc words too?

Session 2 – English - We will be using the book ‘Owl Babies’ by Martin Waddell for our learning this week. Please feel free to read the book if you are not familiar with it, however PLEASE DO NOT read it to your child as we look at certain pictures, parts of the text to explore story language and structure and character feelings before reading the whole book. Many thanks.

Look at the attached picture from the story and discuss with your child: Who do you think will be in the story? How are they feeling? What could happen in the story?

Activity: Can you label the picture? What can you see? What sound does the label start with? tree- can you hear it? Can you hear any other sounds? Can you label 5 things in the picture? Challenge: Can you label more than 5?

Session 3 -  Maths – Time - Read or Listen to Mrs. Leigh reading Peace at Last by Jill Murphy. (You can find a link to Mrs. Leigh reading Peace at Last on Tapestry) Mr. Bear hears lots of noises during the nighttime which stop him from going to sleep. This is sad because nighttime is when we should sleep.

What other things do you do at nighttime before you go to sleep?  Do you brush your teeth? Do you have a story? Do you say goodnight to your teddies? What do you do during the daytime? Do you have lunch? Do you play outside? Do you make something, maybe from blocks or using paper and glue? Do you do some drawing?

Activity: Can you sort the pictures? Which activities do we do in the daytime? Which do we do at night? PDF-Light-and-Dark-Week-3-Session-4.pdf (kxcdn.com)

Session 4- Topic - Our Term 3 Topic is ‘What Happens When I Fall Asleep?’ Just before bedtime look out of your bedroom window. Can you see the moon? If so, what shape is it? Can you see any stars? How many stars can you see?

Activity: Tomorrow morning, draw a picture of what you could see out of your window.

Extra fun! - Funky Finger Challenge!

You will need a t shirt and some clothes pegs. How many pegs can you peg around your t shirt? See the video on Tapestry.

Story time - Today’s story is Peace at Last, read by Mrs Leigh. Make a list or take a photo of all the stories you read together with Mummy or Daddy. How many stories can you share?
