Year 3 Home Learning – Monday 18th January

We hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable weekend!

Just a reminder that Miss Blackmore and Mr Cook will be available to communicate with you live on Class Dojo between 10-10.30am and 14.00-14.30pm. We will be able to help you with your learning and answer any questions about the work set.

Here is an outline of the work we would like you to complete today:

Spelling

Practice spelling words that end in --sk and -st. Can you segment and blend each word to help you find the answer? This is set as a 2Do on Purple Mash.

Reading

Read Chapter 1 of the Max and the Pirates of Puddleton Bay. Puddleton Bay is usually a quiet place to live until one night, a storm hits the bay. I wonder what is going to happen? Complete the Quiz to assess your understanding of Chapter 1. This is also set as a 2Do on Purple Mash.

English

Remind yourself on what happened at the end of Chapter two. The Iron Man is trapped and buried in the pit. I wonder if this will be the last of the Iron Man… How does Hogarth feel about the situation? Do you think he did the right thing in luring the Iron Man into the trap? Toady we would like you to draw an outline of Hogarth. Inside the outline write a range of different adjectives that describe how he is feeling (guilty, emotional, etc.) Around the outside of the outline, explain why he is feeling that way in full sentences (E.g., He is feeling guilty because he was the one who made the trap).

Iron Man book – read from “DANGER: KEEP OFF”, to warn people away, and they left it at that

Iron Man Audio – (10.42 until the end)

Maths

Begin by working out the four challenges in the maths starter. Don’t forget to show your working out! Then move on to Fluency, Reasoning and Problem Solving. Today we will be looking at patterns and related calculations.

For example, if you know that 2 x 5 = 10, then you know 2 x 50 = 100.  I wonder if you can see that because one of the numbers is ten times bigger, then the answer will be ten times bigger! You may want to watch this video https://vimeo.com/486330232 for more information and to take you through the learning.

You can practice your multiplication skills by logging on to Times Tables Rockstars. If you have forgotten your login, just message us!

PE

Join Team Theme Coach Kim to join in a HIIT Workout. I wonder if you can keep up with the fast and pacey workout!

RE

This term we will focus on the Incarnation section of the Big Frieze. We will be answering the Big Question: What is the Trinity?  I wonder if you can answer this week’s learning question: How is the Trinity described in the Bible and by Christians? We would like you to think carefully about words that describe each part of the Trinity. Take a look at the images in the resources below to see if you spot any words/pictures that represent the Trinity.
