Year 3 Home Learning – Monday 11th January

We hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable weekend!

Just a reminder that Miss Blackmore and Mr Cook will be available to communicate with you live on Class Dojo between 10-10.30am and 14.00-14.30pm. We will be able to help you with your learning and answer any questions about the work set.

Here is an outline of the work we would like you to complete today;

Spelling

Practice spelling words that end in -mp and -nd. Can you segment and blend each word to help you? This is set as a 2Do on Purple Mash.

Reading

Read Chapter 1 of the Tale of Ostrich and a Very Long Neck. Then complete the Quiz to assess your understanding of the story. This is also set as a 2Do on Purple Mash.

English

We hope you are enjoying reading The Iron Man so far! Today we would like you to think about the moment when Hogarth arrives home. How do Hogarth’s family react to his news? Spend time focusing on Hogarth and thinking about his reactions to what he has seen.

We would like you to draw a picture of Hogarth. Around the outside of your drawing, note down his reactions using these prompts:

  • Thought bubble to record what he could be thinking
  • Speech bubble to record what the character would say
  • Arrows to record what Hogarth might do next
  • Love heart to record the character’s feelings

Maths

Today we are continuing counting in multiples of 4. Begin by working out the four challenges in the maths starter. Don’t forget to show your working out! Then move on to Fluency, Problem Solving and Reasoning. You can draw arrays or repeated addition to help you count in steps of 4.

You can practice your multiplication skills by logging on to Times Tables Rockstars. If you have forgotten your login, just message us!

PE

Join the Body Coach Joe Wicks for a fun and energising workout. Don’t forget to warm up and cool down after exercising!

RE

This term we will focus on the Incarnation section of the Big Frieze. We will be answering the Big Question: What is the Trinity? This week we would like you to look a little more closely at the Baptism of Jesus. Use the resource sheet below to read a passage from the Bible and explore the artwork related to the Trinity.
