PSHE: Piece 2 – Being relaxed. WALT know what relaxed means and know some things that make us feel relaxed and some that make us feel stressed.

This lesson is about relaxation and  part of being healthy is being able to unwind, to relax and be calm. Why it is important to relax? What would happen to us if we didn’t relax? Relaxing allows our minds and bodies to be quiet and calm and means we can rest and recover from things that cause us worry/stress/concern. When we are in school we start every Jigsaw lesson with Calm me, so you already know that people learn better when they are calm and relaxed.

Imagine that there is a line that runs along the floor: it starts at 1 and finishes at 10. At 1, this shows that a person is very calm/not very tense; at 10, it would mean that a person is very tense/not very calm.

Look at the PDF of people in different situations decide how calm and relaxed the person/people are and give them a number from your imaginary line.  Can you rank the images from most to least relaxed.

Come up with words that describe how the people in the pictures might be feeling. Can you describe how you feel when you are calm, when you are tense and when you are somewhere in between?
