Year 3 Home Learning -Term 4 Week 1
Friday 26th February
Welcome to Friday’s blog. Have a lovely and enjoyable weekend! Here is an outline of the work we would like you to complete today.
Phonics
Practice your phonics knowledge by using www.phonicshero.com. Phonics Hero has fun and interactive games that build reading and spelling skills gradually and teaches the 44 different sounds. If your login is not in your child’s contact book, please message your teacher for the login details!
Reading
Read Chapter 5 of Henry the Elephant. Henry attempts to save the day with his paintings. Will Jim and the loggers do what Henry asks or is the day lost? Test your understanding of the chapter by completing the 2Do Quiz.
Spelling
Practice spelling words that were covered in the Autumn term. Some of these words are pretty tricky so make sure you repeat the word by clicking on the microphone logo and study the word carefully. This is set as a 2Do called Y3 SPR1 W1 Quiz on Purple Mash.
English
Begin by listening to Chapter 9, 10 and 11 by accessing the recorded video. Can you visualise what Lizard Street looks like? We know the street has many buildings such as a grocer’s shop, a school, and a cinema. Today we would like you to draw a picture of Lizard Street and label the landmarks. Watch this video to read extracts from the text and to take you through the learning.
Maths
Begin by working out the four challenges in the maths starter. Don’t forget to show your working out! Then move on to Fluency, Reasoning and Problem Solving. Today we are learning to compare lengths of objects using comparison language such as longer than, shorter than, taller than, longest, shortest, and tallest. We will be using symbols such as <, > and =. Watch this video to help explain the learning: https://vimeo.com/505647236
Topic
Research and record a predator from each of the subgroups: mammals, birds, insects, arachnids, reptiles, fish and plants. Use the internet, books, or your own knowledge to find an animal for each group. Draw a labelled picture of the animal under each heading. Challenge: can you write an interesting fact for each animal?
