Today you will be generating words from prefixes. Etymology means finding out where words come from to help us to remember what they mean. Find out the meanings of some common prefixes: bi, aqua, super, auto, trans, tele, circum, extra, pro, anti, semi and aero. These prefixes will help you to understand the meanings of words. Create a table to record your findings, e.g.,

Reading
Read chapter 9 of Journey to the river sea. Answer the comprehension questions as you read the chapter.
English
Today you will be gathering your thoughts about the following characters using the role on wall technique: Mrs Carter, Mr Carter, Miss Minton, the Twins, Clovis and Finn. Choose at least 2 characters to explore in detail. You will also be writing in role as Maia; this will take the form of a letter to a friend at Maia’s old school. Use the video PowerPoint where Mr Smith will guide you through the lesson.
Maths

PE
This week you will be taking part in the ‘Virtual Winter Sports Week’. There are 7 events: Figure of 8, Walk out burpees, Ski jumps, Bounce catch, Up down plank, Squat jumps, Snowboard jumps and Ski sit. We need your best score for each event by the end of this week. Remember to complete the scoring sheet which has been uploaded to your class story. We will be submitting results to Team Theme and they will be awarding certificates and awards.
The rules –
- Each event lasts for 30 seconds.
- Count how many you can complete for each event in the set time.
- For Ski sit there is no time limit, record how long you last!
- Take photos (or videos) of your attempts and upload them to your Portfolio.
- Have fun!
