Friday 8th January 2021

Here are your activities for today – Friday 8th January 2021.

Phonics:  Logon to Phonics Hero and complete the next activity. Rhyming words: Write down all the words you can think of that rhyme with See.

GPS: Purple mash activity - Making phrases interesting.

Practise the spellings of the following words – people, magic, school, home, going.  Can you write them backwards?

Guided Reading: Logon to Purple Mash. Read Chapter Five of ‘Anna’s Sports Day’ and complete the quiz.

English:  Today you will be describing your favourite superhero.  Please see the PDF attached for your work. Here is the link for the story.

Maths: Today you will be learning to multiply. Watch this video which will take you though some examples and then complete the worksheet. You can write out your answers you do not need to print out your sheet.

Topic - Science: Make mud balls, dough balls, clay balls and wet sand balls, describe how the different materials feel. Observe ice balls melting over time, adding food colouring and dye to the thawing ice. Test which balls can change their shape, and which are fixed.

Ask questions, such as ‘Do all balls bounce? Why? What happens when you throw them or try to bounce them?’  Describe what you can see happening.

This activity could also be done with snowballs, depending on if we get snow.

Topic – Science: Plan and carry out your own science investigations using balls.  What would you like to find out? This might be testing a range of balls like table tennis balls, sponge balls, rubber balls and plastic balls to see which float and which sink. Alternatively, test how balls roll and bounce across different surfaces, or which balls bounce the highest when dropped from a fixed height.

Make predictions before testing. Record you experiment using the attached PDF grid or write it out.
