Year 3 Home Learning – Wednesday 27^th January

 

Welcome to Wednesday’s blog! Please let your teachers know if you need any resources or logins to support your home learning. We are available to talk live on Class Dojo between 10-10.30am and 14-14.30pm to answer any questions you may have.

 

Here is an outline of the work we would like you to complete today:

 

Spelling

Practice today’s spellings by completing the spelling quiz on Purple Mash. Can you use your spelling strategies to help you?

 

Reading

Read Chapters 4 and 5 of Alien Hotel. Sally and co love their tour of Kazoom 43. But will the planet's most fearsome animals love them? Then complete the Quiz for each chapter. These are also set as 2Dos on Purple Mash.

 

Handwriting

Use www.letterjoin.co.uk to begin this week’s handwriting practice. Log on to your account with the Username: wk25530 and Password: home. Today we would like you to create a graffiti wall! Practice writing your name in cursive handwriting by using the online resource. Then use A4 or A5 paper to fill your page by writing your name (don’t forget cursive handwriting!) Add patterns and colours to your name and then decorate the background.

 

English

Listen to the video to find out about today’s learning. Recap Chapter 4: The Space Being and the Iron Man by listening to the audio or written version. Yesterday you planned your newspaper report. You thought about the name of your newspaper, an eye-catching headline, and the details in each paragraph. Today we would like you to become a journalist and complete your newspaper article!

Maths

Begin by working out the four challenges in the maths starter. Don’t forget to show your working out! Then move on to Fluency, Reasoning and Problem Solving. Today, we are learning how to work systematically. This means solving problems in an orderly, efficient way. To solve today’s problems, you will need to draw pictures and patterns to solve the calculations. Watch this video to take you through today’s learning.

 

PSHE

Over the last few weeks, you have been thinking about your hopes and dreams for the future. It has been lovely to find out about your future ambitions! Today we are going to think about the obstacles that might hinder your achievements and the steps you will take to overcome them. 

 

Create a mind map with your main goal for the future in the middle. Around the outside include possible obstacles that may stop you achieving your goal. Then think of ways you could overcome the barriers.
